The Adventures of a Uniphant

I suppose I really should explain why my unicorn is an elephant, huh? When I was little I had this wallpaper trim in my room that had elephants on it. Every night before bed, my parents would have to come into my room and clap to wake up my magical elephants that would scare the monsters away and protect me while I slept. Since that point, elephants have been special to me and as I get older they are just as important.

So with the time since my last post I've slowly been finding out more about myself. Something I very recently realized about my tattoo, I feel more attached to it when I'm stressed out. Maybe like when I was younger I'm relying on it to protect me from the monsters. My monsters are very different now than just a noise I hear coming from the dark at night, of course. Some believe that monsters don't exist as a way to not fear them in that form, but truth is they're still there, we just don't see them the same way. Our monsters are our fears. Going to a new school and make new friends. Trying to get into the college of your dreams to pursue the career you want. Asking out that special someone. The previous alone isn't scary really, it's the fear of failing. Many of us have a fear of the unknown as well. What if no one wants to talk to me? What if I don't pass? What if they don't like me? What if I get hurt? What if people think I look funny? Wha...

Sorry for being AWOL again my uniphants! Where I've been: Camps/Vacations/Conferences. There. Now that we are all caught up, I previously mentioned summer goals. Might I just say, I have done really well with all of them. Something I didn't expect was how many new things I have tried.  I've gone down roads I have never even thought about. And have gotten lost a couple times.  I've tried new fruit. Don't ask me what fruit because I honestly have no idea what it was.  I have been friend zoned. I don't know you people do it.  I was a youth leader for the last time at my church's Girl's Camp. Man, was I nostalgic.  I am the tannest I've been in years. Yes, I do wear sunscreen (and you should too).  I have also made a few new friends. Who knew this summer would bring so much for me this year? Have you tried anything new this summer? With summer comes new things. Thus new shoes to work out in. These are a pair of Asics. I love how comfortable they are.  Aren't they colourful? Now for the tattoo. I would never get a real one, but I was bored and thought it'd be cute. Because this is the adventures of a uniphant, I decided an elephant would be best. Isn't is cute? Its already fading since I did it on Friday. I have to take it off soon anyway.  Happy summer everyone!

Along with summer comes new goals- think of it like New Years. My goals for this summer are: 1. Get fit and treat my body better Run nearly every day Cross Fit Eat healthy (aka not eating dairy, of which I am allergic to) 2.Go outside more Go enjoy the fresh air and soak up some of the Vitamin D and Calcium Go for a hike 3.Get out and do more! The sun arrived just in time for SUMMER!!! It was raining last week. So, my uniphants, here is a little update on my life. I graduated seminary on sunday. I think that was the most I've heard people tell me, "Wow, I didn't know you're that old!" Thanks guys. This week, I have a brother moving away and going on tour. Another brother and his wife just moved in for the summer. It's a little weird for me, having another girl in the house. Not quite used to it considering I grew up with all brothers.

So of what little I know of where I want to live, I know that I want to live near a trader joe's. Ever since discovering one about two hours away, I get excited to go that direction. ( IF YOU GO GET THE PEACHES AND THE NAAN.... OR DON'T SO I CAN HAVE THEM)  I have a bit of a passion for the store. I also have notice that the ones I have been to have all been in "hipster" type towns, with the indie coffee shops and music stores. Oh well. I shall embrace it. I always find new music on youtube anyway.... I'm dressing the way I want though.

Another Day another Adventure!   I got the chance to get to know the wonderful bride (AKA MY NEW SISTER IN LAW) I got to help her with her dress fitting. My mom made her wedding dress. Lots of work went into that. I don't think I ever want to sew a wedding dress.... Shopping and frozen yogurt was needed along the way aswell.   This is where the shindig went down. Now doesn't he look excited?!? This is my brother. ( AKA GROOM) I was lucky enough to get to be the one to ride in the car with him. He and I don't talk much or get along all the time. It was pretty quiet most of the time.  Here I am. My brother thought I was weird just taking pictures. Sorry, please excuse me for trying to capture your big day and entertain myself.  And off they go.  Until they come to stay with us this summer...

Dear Youtube,  I love you so much. Lately you have become an obsession of mine. I'm afraid though, you are taking up too much of my precious time in my life. I have decided we must part ways. Just for a short time. Don't worry. Well, its been nearly two months since my last blog post. Within that month, this is all I have seen. It is April; the middle of spring! You'd think it'd drive me to blog more often, but I kept telling myself, "Oh if I blog about it, it will just melt." Yes well, I think I am ready for it to go now. I think snow is absolutely beautiful... When it's not the middle of spring. Maybe I should just whip out the swim suit and tan. Might be nice and even with the sun reflecting off the snow. I should probably wait until my cold is gone, huh? Yep, that's right. I'm sick. Time to put a hazard sign up on my door. Now i'm going to go snuggle up under my covers, pretend the snow is melting, and hope to feel better soon! P.S. I'm going to try to come up with some sort of blogging schedule. I already have a couple topics picked out, but comment below some things you might like me to talk about :)

 Well first, I haven't been the best blogger now have I? Oh well, time to get back on that horse! Let's get straight into the post!  I'll admit it, but then again I know all of you do it too. I love to think about my future house or "dream house." Now I do have a question. Does anyone else get stuck on one room? Just what it looks like, what will go in it. For me it's the kitchen. I feel a little bad for my future husband. I'm almost willing to get a house with the tiniest master bedroom just to have a marvelous kitchen... It will probably always be the cleanest room in my house too. I grew up being the one person my mom really let in the kitchen when she was cooking. Of course, as sous chef, I mostly cleaned  and retrieved needed items; I learned where everything belongs. Working with my mom I also learned her method of cooking. "Hey can I get your recipe?" "Umm I can tell you the ingredients I remember, but your measurements are as good ...

Sooo, we didn't exactly break a world record. Not even close really... Only 1,700 people showed up... There were a lot of donations though! Ok who decided to let three holidays happen in the same week? Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, and Valentine's Day- oh my! Normally the first two are pretty big for me. This year I forgot them for the most part. I did celebrate Valentine's Day though. My opinion on Valentine's Day? It's a pointless holiday. If you love a person show them all year round, not just some commercial holiday for Hallmark. I like to spend time with my family that day and make sure they know I do love them though. This year I did have a Valentine, but it wasn't different from any other day. Luckily he feels the same way about it, just another Thursday.  Anyway I hope you all had a nice Thursday and the weekend be fun!

Well normally on a Saturday one would sleep in, but tomorrow? Oh Heck to the NO! I'm getting up to go make snow angels! Why would making snow angels tomorrow morning vs. the evening make any different? Well, I'll be happy to tell you! Tomorrow morning thousands of people will be gathering to make snow angels to help break a world record. Not only will it be amazing to be apart of the Guinness Book of World  Records, but we are actually doing it for a cause. Each volunteer has been asked to bring $5 (or $10 as a family) to donate to Angels for a Cause. This money will be used to send clean drinking water to people in Ethiopia. Friends. We all have them, even If they are animals or family. Why do we have friends? Let's face it. We have things we don't want to talk to our parents about. (even if they have already been through this) We all have secrets that we are just bursting to tell someone. Its nice to know someone can think on the same level as you, or likes to do the same things you do. Someone who can make you smile when you feel like your whole world is falling apart. Why do we have friends we don't like? Well you probably didn't have this problem at first. Something since you first became friends has changed.  Or you may have realized something about that person that you hadn't noticed before. Sometimes we are going to have to come to terms that some friends grow apart. Its a part of life. How can I make friends?  I want to start with WHERE you should make friends. Think of something you really like or like to do. Great. Now go- go look up clubs, groups, and teams for that thi...

I always feel accomplished when I end up in friends quote books.This time we were discussing people, mostly talking about relationships. Now I find a good way to talk about couples is relating them to puzzle pieces. I realize it's cheesy, but it's an easy way for people to understand. We talked about how I have a bunch of guy friends whose pieces look exactly like mine but are apart of different puzzles. We get along really well, but we don't belong together. She once dated a guy whose piece is super funky and double sided, as where hers is simple and classic. Their pieces were just tossed in the same box.  Now I'm not stereotyping. I'm not one of those that thinks royal and commoner don't go together. If that were true, Kate Middleton wouldn't be married to her prince charming. (Literally!) I do believe in finding your one true love; finding that piece that fits perfectly with ease. None of that pushing or trying to change your piece.

"What is a uniphant?" is what you are probably asking yourself when you read the title of my blog. A uniphant is a unicorn and an elephant morphed together. I used to think elephants were magical and protected me. Unicorns are magical and have a horn to protect themselves. Put them together and you have an ultimate creature.  This is my first blog. It will go through many changes for a while until I get the hang of this. It will be about what ever comes to mind, the adventure I call life,  and things that interest me.   Speaking of things that interest me. I love music, movies, and books. You feel like you know everything about me right? Well, I'm sure you will know me better over time.  And with that, I give you my first post. EVER.
